Rebuild The Connection That Brought You Together

Couples & Relationship Counselling

Couples Counselling That Strengthens Your Relationship

Couples and relationship counselling helps you understand what keeps going wrong between the two of you and build something stronger in its place. Whether you feel distant, keep having the same argument, or are working through a real breach of trust, we help you reconnect. We work in person in Abbotsford and online across British Columbia, with both partners, to change the patterns that keep pulling you apart.

What Is Couples Counselling?

Couples counselling is a space for the two of you to understand what is really happening, not just the surface argument about chores, money, or who said what. Most couples don’t end up stuck because they stopped caring, they get stuck because the same painful cycle keeps repeating, and neither of you knows how to step out of it.

That cycle tends to run underneath everything. One of you reaches and the other pulls back; one pushes and the other stays quiet. You both end up feeling unheard, and the distance grows. None of that means your relationship is broken, it means you have fallen into a pattern that protects you in the moment but keeps you apart over time, and patterns can change.

How Relationship Struggles Show Up

Couples don’t often call this a crisis, not at first at least. It often looks like:

  • Having the same argument over and over, even when the topic changes
  • Feeling more like roommates than partners
  • Walking on eggshells, or bracing for the next conflict
  • One of you chasing connection while the other withdraws
  • Trying to rebuild trust after an affair, a betrayal, or a broken promise
  • Losing the closeness, affection, or intimacy you used to have

If any of these sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Plenty of couples know these exact patterns, and counselling can help you understand where they come from and, more importantly, change them.

How We Help

We practice attachment-focused, emotionally informed couples therapy. That means we look at the cycle the two of you fall into, the needs underneath it, and the way you each protect yourself when you feel hurt or unsafe.

Our work is grounded in attachment science and emotionally focused approaches, the same foundation behind the most effective couples therapy, alongside formal training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that we draw on when it fits what you need.

Together, we’ll slow down that cycle and help you build the kind of relationship you both want.

Struggle In A Marriage Isn't Uncommon

Is This You?

You don’t need things to be falling apart to come in. We work with couples who:

  • Keep having the same fight without ever resolving it
  • Feel more distant than they used to, and aren’t sure how it happened
  • Are trying to rebuild trust after an affair or a betrayal
  • Want to communicate better before resentment sets in
  • Are facing a big change together, like a new baby, a move, or a blended family
  • Still love each other but have lost the connection along the way

We also have experience supporting neurodivergent partners and couples affected by substance use, whether directly or through someone they love.

What to Expect

Couples counselling isn’t about deciding who’s right, it’s about understanding the cycle you’re caught in. In our work together, you can expect:

A safe place to start: We begin with a free consultation, a relaxed conversation about what’s bringing you in and whether we’re the right fit. No pressure, no commitment, whether you join us at our Abbotsford office or online.

A fair, balanced space: We are not here to take sides. We make room for the both of you, so that each partner feels heard rather than blamed.

Practical change: Understanding your patterns matters, but we also help you move from awareness to action, with tools you can use at home, the next time things get tense.

Couple Counselling in Abbotsford & Online Across BC

Our practice is based in Abbotsford, where we offer in-person sessions in a warm, private setting. Whether you’re nearby in Clearbrook, around Mill Lake, in the historic downtown, or out toward Sumas Mountain or Aberdeen, our office is an easy drive from anywhere in the city. If you’re elsewhere in the Fraser Valley or anywhere in British Columbia, secure virtual sessions make it easy to get the same care from home. Many of our couples in Mission, Chilliwack, and Langley choose a mix of both. Whichever option fits your life best, the care is the same.

FAQ's

We start with a free consultation, a relaxed conversation about what's bringing you in and whether we're the right fit. There's no pressure and no commitment. From there, the early sessions are about understanding your relationship, what each of you is hoping for, and the patterns you'd like to change.

Most of the work happens with both of you in the room, since that's where the patterns between you show up. There are times when an individual session for one partner is helpful, and we'll suggest that when it makes sense. The goal is always to support the relationship, not to take sides.

Yes. What you talk about in session stays private, within the usual professional and legal limits, such as situations involving a risk of serious harm. We're glad to walk you through how confidentiality works during your first conversation with us.
