Rebuild The Connection That Brought You Together

Couples Counselling That Strengthens Your Relationship
Couples and relationship counselling can help you understand what keeps going wrong between you and find new ways to connect. Whether you feel distant, keep having the same argument, or are working through a breach of trust, we help you understand the patterns that keep pulling you apart and work toward rebuilding connection.
What Is Couples Counselling?
Couples counselling gives you space to understand what is really happening between you, beyond the surface argument about chores, money, parenting, or who said what. Couples often become stuck in the same painful cycle, even when both people care deeply about the relationship and want things to be different.
That cycle can start to show up everywhere. One of you reaches while the other pulls back, or one pushes while the other goes quiet. Over time, both of you can end up feeling unheard, misunderstood or alone in the relationship. Counselling can help you recognize the cycle, understand what is happening underneath it, and begin responding to each other differently.
How Relationship Struggles Show Up
Couples don’t often call this a crisis, not at first, at least. It often looks like:
- Having the same argument over and over, even when the topic changes
- Feeling more like roommates than partners
- Walking on eggshells, or bracing for the next conflict
- One of you chasing connection while the other withdraws
- Trying to rebuild trust after an affair, a betrayal, or a broken promise
- Losing the closeness, affection, or intimacy you used to have
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. These patterns are common in relationships, and counselling can help you better understand what is happening between you and begin finding a different way forward together.
How We Help
Our approach is attachment-focused and emotionally informed. We look at the cycle the two of you get caught in, what may be happening underneath it, and the ways each of you responds when you feel hurt, disconnected or unsure of where you stand with each other.
Our work draws from attachment science and formal training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, along with approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Gottman Method. We draw from these approaches based on the needs of each couple rather than following a set formula.
Together, we work to slow down the cycle, understand what keeps it going, and create more opportunities for connection, communication and repair.
Is This You?
You don’t need things to be falling apart to come in. We work with couples who:
- Keep having the same fight without ever resolving it
- Feel more distant than they used to, and aren’t sure how it happened
- Are trying to rebuild trust after an affair or a betrayal
- Want to communicate better before resentment sets in
- Are facing a big change together, like a new baby, a move, or a blended family
- Still love each other but have lost the connection along the way
We also have experience supporting neurodivergent partners and couples affected by substance use, whether directly or through someone they love.
What to Expect
Couples counselling isn’t about deciding who is right or wrong. It’s about understanding what happens between you and helping both partners have a voice in the process.
A comfortable place to start: We begin with a free consultation, a relaxed conversation about what’s bringing you in and whether we might be a good fit. There’s no pressure or commitment to continue.
A fair, balanced space: We’re not here to choose sides. We work to understand each partner’s experience while keeping the focus on the relationship and the patterns happening between you.
Practical change: Understanding your patterns is important, but the work doesn’t stop there. We also help you explore different ways of responding to each other when familiar patterns show up at home.

FAQ's
We start with a free consultation, a relaxed conversation about what's bringing you in and whether we're the right fit. There's no pressure and no commitment. From there, the early sessions are about understanding your relationship, what each of you is hoping for, and the patterns you'd like to change.
Most sessions involve both partners, since the relationship itself is the focus of the work. There may be times when meeting individually with a partner is clinically appropriate, depending on the circumstances and approach being used. We’ll discuss this with you if it becomes relevant.
What you share in counselling is treated as confidential within professional and legal limits. Because confidentiality can work differently in couples counselling than in individual therapy, we’ll also review how information shared within the couple is handled so that expectations are clear from the beginning.
