Find Steady Ground When Anxiety Takes Over
Individual Counselling & Anxiety Support
One-On-One Counselling That Helps You Feel Steady Again
Counselling helps you understand what’s fueling the anxiety, stress, or heaviness you’re carrying and build steadier ground in its place. Whether you feel constantly on edge, caught in your own thoughts, or worn down by a hard season, we help you find your footing again. We work with you in person in Abbotsford and online across British Columbia, at a pace that’s yours, to create change that actually lasts.
What Is Individual Counselling?
Individual counselling is a space to slow down and understand what’s really going on, not just the worry on the surface but what sits underneath it. Most people don’t stay anxious because they aren’t trying hard enough. They stay stuck because the same loops keep running, and willpower alone rarely switches them off.
Anxiety works in a loop. A worry shows up, your body reacts, you try to control it or avoid it, and the relief never lasts. Over time the loop tightens, and it starts shaping your sleep, your choices, and how you feel about yourself. None of that means something is wrong with you, it means your mind is doing its best to keep you safe in a way that has stopped working, and that can change.
How Anxiety Shows Up
Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic. More often, it looks like:
- Racing thoughts that won’t go away
- A constant sense that something is about to go wrong
- Overthinking small decisions, or avoiding them altogether
- Restlessness, tension, or trouble sleeping you can’t quite explain
- Snapping at the people closest to you, then feeling guilty for it
- Going quiet and stepping back from things you used to enjoy
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many Individuals go through these feelings, and counselling can help you understand where they come from and, more importantly, help you feel at ease.
How We Help
We practise warm, evidence-based therapy that works on the root of the anxiety, not just the symptoms. That means we look at the thoughts and patterns that keep the worry going and the ways you’ve learned to cope that may be holding you in place.
Our work draws on formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy. We lean on whichever approach fits you, rather than forcing you into a single method.
Together, we’ll build practical tools you can actually use, and help you feel calmer and more in control of your day-to-day life.
Anxiety Is More Common Than You Think
Is This You?
You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin. We work with people who:
- Feel anxious or on edge without always knowing why
- Look fine on the outside but feel exhausted underneath
- Lie awake replaying the day or bracing for tomorrow
- Are facing a big change, like a move, a new job, or the end of a relationship
- Have tried to push through on their own and are ready for real support
- Want to feel calmer and more like themselves again
We also have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and people affected by substance use, whether directly or through someone they love.
What to Expect
Personal counselling is about understanding what you’re carrying and finding a way through it. You can expect:
A safe place to start: We begin with a free consultation, a relaxed conversation about what’s bringing you in and whether we’re the right fit. No pressure, no commitment, whether you join us at our Abbotsford office or online.
Your pace, always: You set the speed, and we walk alongside you the whole way.
Practical change: Understanding where the anxiety comes from matters, but we also help you move from insight to action, with tools you can use the next time your thoughts start to spin.
Trauma Counselling in Abbotsford & Online Across BC
Our practice is based in Abbotsford, where we offer in-person sessions in a warm, private setting. Whether you’re nearby in Clearbrook, around Mill Lake, in the historic downtown, or out toward Sumas Mountain or Aberdeen, our office is an easy drive from anywhere in the city. If you’re elsewhere in the Fraser Valley or anywhere in British Columbia, secure virtual sessions make it easy to get the same care from home. Many of our clients in Mission, Chilliwack, and Langley choose a mix of both. Whichever option fits your life best, the care is the same.
FAQ's
Both, and the two are connected. We help you build practical tools to steady yourself in the moment, and we also work on what's driving the anxiety underneath, so it loses its grip over time rather than being something you simply manage forever.
You don't need to be at a breaking point and your anxiety doesn't have to look severe to be worth addressing, If worry, stress, or low mood is affecting your sleep, your relationships, your work, or how you feel about yourself, that's reason enough to reach out. Plenty of people come in simply because they're tired of carrying it on their own.
That's completely normal. The first session is easygoing, with no pressure to get into anything heavy. We move at your pace and feeling nervous at the start doesn't mean you aren't ready.
