Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I book my first session?
Reach out through our contact form, email, or by phone. A lot of people like to start with a free 15 minute phone consultation first, so we can both make sure it’s the right fit before you commit to a full session.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! It’s a short, low-pressure chat where you can ask questions, get a sense of how we work, and decide if it feels right for you.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is really just us getting to know you — what’s brought you in, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and a bit about your background. It gives us a chance to understand where you’re at, and it gives you a chance to see if you feel comfortable. You never have to share more than you’re ready to.
Do you take insurance?
Most insurance companies reimburse therapy sessions with Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC).
Approach & Specialties
What kinds of issues do you work with?
We help adults dealing with relational trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, big life changes, and the relationship patterns that keep showing up. We also work with couples who want to communicate better and rebuild trust. On top of that, we have experience with neurodivergence, attachment, boundaries, and supporting people affected by a loved one’s substance use.
What is relational trauma therapy?
Relational trauma is the hurt that comes out of difficult or harmful relationships — often early ones — and the patterns they leave behind. Our work digs into where those patterns actually come from, not just easing the symptoms, so you can build healthier connections with yourself and the people around you.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
We work with proven methods like Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, along with training in the Gottman Method for couples. We fit the approach to you rather than running everyone through the same playbook.
Do you offer couples counselling?
Yes! Through a focus on attachment, we work with couples on communication that’s broken down, conflict that keeps coming back, rebuilding trust after betrayal or distance, and feeling more connected again. That includes pre-marital and committed partners who want to build something healthy and lasting.
